Antique Maps of the Moon
Our collection of antique maps of the Moon charts humanity’s long fascination with Earth’s closest celestial neighbour. The first known map of the Moon was drawn by Thomas Harriot in 1609, followed soon after by Galileo Galilei’s lunar drawings and Johannes Hevelius’s detailed selenographic atlas of 1647. We have maps of the moon from early theoretical and artistic depictions to geological maps and space-race era charts produced during lunar exploration in the mid-20th century.
