Description

A scarce map of the coast of Italy from Ostia south to Punta Zabrone (marked with the mythical Itacesie Islands), with Ischia, Naples, Amalfi and Salerno. It was published in Father Leandro Alberti's 'Isole Appartenenti alla Italia', a description of the islands of Italy Leandro Alberti (1479-1552), a Dominican friar from Bologna, was a historian and author, writing biographies of famous Dominicans and histories of Bologna and Venice. His 'Isole' was first published in 1550 without maps, as the second part of his 'Descrizione d'Italia'.
