Description

A rare map of the world on a polar projection, with both the North and South hemispheres depicted on four gores each, as if designed to be pasted onto a globe. Geographical information is minimal. Angelocrater (Daniel Engelhardt, 1569-1635), a Calvinist minister, devised the unusal projection for this map, which was published in his 'Doctrina de Ponderibus, Monetis, et Mensuris per Totum Terrarum Orbem Usitatis'.

Condition:

Margin repaired on South Pole map. A fine impression.

SHIRLEY: 320, rated 'R' for rare.
