Description

A plate with six views of British warships after Thomas Baston, copied from his series 'Twenty-two Prints of Several of the Capital Ships of his Majesties Royal Navy with variety of other sea pieces', published by John Bowles in 1721. The two named ships are HMS Royal Anne, launched as HMS St Andrew in 1670, renamed Anne in 1703 and broken up in 1727; and HMS Royal Sovereign, launched 1701, serving as Admiral Rooke's flagship in the War of the Spanish Succession before being broken up in 1768. A rare item.
