Description

An early map of China, also showing Japan and the 'island' of Korea. A large title cartouche with exotic Chinese figures in full colour fills the gap top right, where the enigma of 'Ezo' was to confuse Europeans until the late 18th century. From a three-volume edition of the 'Terraum Orbis Terrarum', published 1645-55.
