Description

A prospect of the famous town of Evian-les-Bains from Lac Leman, with a 13-point key in a cartouche of milk maid and butter churning. The town's crest is held aloft by cherubs. The map was published in the fifth and last volume of Johannes Blaeu's Townbooks of Italy, 'Sabaudia Velocis Justitiae et Mavortiae Virtutis Antiqua Sedes', published after his death. Later editions were published by Moetjens, Mortier & Alberts. The colour is particularly fine, with the armorial accentuated with gold.
