Description

A Dutch map of Brazil south of Rio de Janeiro, Uruguay with the River Parana with Buenos Aires on the far bank, and west to part of the Chilean coastline. The map marks Potosi, the mountain of silver, and the rivers used by the illicit silver merchants to bypass the Spanish authorities in Chile. Engraved by Gerard Cock, it only appeared in the Americas volume of Blaeu's final atlas, the 'Atlas Major', so is comparatively uncommon.

Condition:

A good example.
