Description
A magnificent map showing the Rhine from its source in Switzerland to the North Sea, orientated with north to the right. The Meuser and Moselle rivers are also marked. The large title cartouche features allegorical figures representing the three rivers. A bank of armorials top right refer to the domains the Rhine flows through.
First published in 1635, the plate was still in use when the Blaeu printing house burned down; because the map was always published without letterpress it is impossible to determine the editions.
