Description

A prospect of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in Savoy, with the snow-covered Alps behind. The title is on a banderole with the arms of Savoy held aloft by putti. The map was published in the fifth and last volume of Johannes Blaeu's Townbooks of Italy, 'Sabaudia Velocis Justitiae et Mavortiae Virtutis Antiqua Sedes', published after his death. Later editions were published by Moetjens, Mortier & Alberts. The colour is particularly fine, with the armorial accentuated with gold
