Description

A bird's-eye view of Jerusalem, with a 48-point key listing the sites of the biblical city. However the city is depicted as Islamic: in the foreground are five figures in Arab dress; the Temple of Solomon is topped with a crescent; and outside the city walls is a mosque. It was published in the second volume of the 'Civitates Orbis Terrarum', the first systematic atlas of town plans.

Condition:

A fine example.
