Description

An early 17th century prospect of Lviv, now Ukraine, but at the time part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The skyline of the city is dominated by the 14th century cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with the Vysokyi Zamok (High Castle, now ruined) The map was published in the sixth and last volume of the 'Civitates Orbis Terrarum', published 55 years after Volume One. As this last volume was printed in small quantity, this plan is one of the rarest in the series.
