Description

A large and detailed map of Iberia, published only two months after the British Army, under the command of Lieutenant-General Sir Arthur Wellesley, landed on the peninsula to held Spain and Portugal repel the invaders from Napoleonic France. The map is based on the work of two prominent French cartographers, Pierre Gregoire Chanlaire (1758-1817) and Edme Mentelle (1730-1816), both of whom had worked for the French monarchy but had supported the Revolution and Napoleon as emperor.
