Description

Detailed map of southern Croatia with parts of Bosnia and Herzegovinia, at a time when the Venetians and their allies were at war with the Turks for control of the area, concluded by the Treaty of Carlowitz in 1699. An inset shows the Istrian peninsula. Coronelli moved to Paris in 1681 to make a pair of globes for Louis XIII. During his residence he collaborated with Nolin, publishing maps in Paris, before he compiled his own 'Atlante Veneto' in Venice from 1691.
