Description

A wall map of the Americas with a very unusual depiction of the north west: California, despite having the indented northern coastline usually associated with the 'island' form, is joined to the mainland; immediately to the north is an inlet leading to the 'Mer de l'Ouest' which almost meets the Great Lakes, with a northerly channel forming a North West Passage into Button and Hudson Bays. Decorations include figurative cartouches for the two titles, a garland one for the scales and numerous galleons, galleys and sea-monsters in the seas.

Condition:

Some restoration, as usual with such large maps.
