Description
A large and detailed antique map of London, covering from Hammersmith in the west, clockwise to Highgate, Leytonstone, West Ham, Brixton, Putney and Barnes.
Of interest is the 'Proposed Embankment, Act passed 1846', a fore-runner of the Chelsea Embankment not opened until 1874, and the 'proposed' Chelsea Bridge'. Just off Wood Lane in Shepherds Bush, once home to the BBC Television Centre, is a building marked 'Leper's House'.
