Description

A large and detailed map, highlighting the roads. The signature on the linen reads 'Hon.ble General Taylor': this is likely the Irish soldier The Honourable General Robert Taylor (1760-1839). Although he fought in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, he didn't serve in the Peninsula. However it would have been unusual for any senior officer not to follow Wellington's campaign in Portugal.

Condition:

Slight faint, toning, old ink ownership inscription on linen and slipcase, case worn with tape stains.
