Description
Hessel Gerritsz's large map of Lithuania, decoratated with six cartouches, ships and a compass rose in the Baltic. It was engraved by Gerritz in 1613 and originally issued separately but, like Gerritsz's map of Russia, was later purchased by Blaeu. Being on four sheets it was one of the Blaeu's largest atlas maps. Apparently there was only ever one state: the plate carries the signature 'Guilhelmus Janssonius', before Willem added the 'Blaeu' to distance himself from his rival Jan Jansson.
