Description
Hondius's scarce large-format carte-à-figure map of Italy, with decorated borders containing twelve prospects of Rome, Naples, Venice, Florence, Genoa, Verona, Parma, Siena, Pozzuolo, Velletri, eight costume vignettes and six armorials. First issued c.1620, this example comes from the second state, with Jansson's name added, published in an atlas shortly after Hondius's death. Shortly afterwards it was replaced with a map without the borders.
