Description
A map of Malta, Gozo and Comino from Houel's book 'Le voyage pittoresque des Isles des Sicilie, de Malte et de Lipari', a record of his trip around the Mediterranean in the 1770s. The map is unusual for the use of aquatint and being printed in sepia.
Houet's drawing books, including the original of this map, were purchased by Catherine the Great and are now in the Hermitage, St Petersburg.
