Description

A detailed map of St Lucia. with an inset 'Plan of the Carenage', the harbour of Castries. The map was surveyed by the British when they took the island in 1762, as part of the Seven Years' War, only to hand it back the following year. In 1778, three years after this map was published, they captured the island again, during the American Revolutionary War. The map was published in Sayer & Bennett's 'West-India Atlas' in 1775.
