Description
Two unusual world maps on one sheet: on the left the projection is stereographic, showing most of the world in one sphere. centred on the North Pole and inflating the Southern Hemisphere; on the right the projection is cordiform (heart-shaped). Above these is a sketch map of Europe and Africa, showing the distortion of Mercator's Projection.
On both the main maps California is joined to the mainland by a small isthmus in the centre of what would have been the island.
