Description

An unusual version of Wolfgang Lazio's map of the Archduchy of Austria, signed 'JS fe ac.t 85' by the engraver. It is centred on the Danube River, whish is shown from the Bavarian border east to Pressburg (Bratislava), with Vienna's defensive walls shown prominently. Wolfgang Lazio (1514-65) drew several maps of Austria and Hungary for a history, which were used by Ortelius, De Jode, Blaeu, Hondius and others.

Condition:

Old repair to left margin.
