Description

A scarce reduced version of the first map of Wales, drawn by the Welshman Humphrey Lhuyd (1527-68), an M.P. and personal physician to Lord Arundel. He tragically died at the age of 41, five years before his map was first published, by his friend Abraham Ortelius. This version was engraved by Pieter van den Keere for Cloppenburg edition of Mercator's 'Atlas Minor' and first published in 1630. Soon after the atlas seems to have been suppressed until this last edition, meaning the map is uncommon.
