Description

A view of the port of Souda within a border of a garland of fruit. The Venetian fortress finally fell to the Ottomans in 1715, over thirty years after the rest of Crete. It was published in Locatalli's ''Racconto historico della Veneta guerra in Levante diretta dal valore del Serenissimo Principe Francesco Morosini'', an account the Turkish-Venetian wars in the Peloponnese, led by the Doge Francesco Morosini.
