An unusual 17th century prospect of Mons

A miniature view of Mons, with a vignette of an old man in a thick coat. Above is a German motto, with a line of Latin text and a four-line verse in German underneath. Neither the figures nor the texts appear to relate to Mons. Meisner's book of town plans originally appeared in 1623 with only 52 plates. In 1624-6 it was re-issued with 416, and again in 1638-42 with a new title, 'Sciographia', and 800 plates, each plate with a letter before the pagination, as this example.
