Description
An English map of northern Asia, showing from Moscow to a hypothetican Pacific coast, with the Geat Wall of China and Beijing bottom right. As well as the route of the Russian ambassador (probably Fyodor Baykov in 1658), the map also shows the route of caravans from Astracan to Bokara. Over the Steppes is a note that the inhabitants 'neither plow nor sow, but move from place to place'.
Moll first published his 'Atlas Minor' in 1729 but, shortly after his death in 1732, Thomas Bowles and his son John reissued it with plate numbers added. However this is a new map, prepared by Moll before his death.
