Description

A map of the environs of Chesapeake Bay, derived from the John Smith map of 1612, and published in 'De Nieuwe En Onbekende Weereld'. Orientated with north to the right, it ignores the development of Maryland and, in a light of imagination, has a llama and a unicorn in the title cartouche. The same plate was used for John Ogilby's English edition of the same year.
