Description

County map of Middlesex, a 'king' for Morden's set of playing card maps, published 1676, this example probably from his 'Pocket book of all the counties'. A suit would be printed on one sheet, so of necessity would have to be trimmed for the atlas. The suit mark has not been stencilled in. Despite its small size it was the first map of Middlesex to have Ogilby's roads marked.

Condition:

Trimmed and laid on contemporary paper, probably done at time of publication
