Description
A large and detailed chart of the Mediterrean Sea, extended to show the Black Sea, with eleven inset details, including Marseilles, Genoa, Livorno, Malta and Alexandria. Ligthhouses are marked with splashes of colour.
Norie's Navigation Warehouse was immortalised by Charles Dickens' 1846 novel 'Dombey and Son' as the shop kept by Sol Gils. A ship's figurehead suspended outside the premises, known locally as the 'Little Midshipman', was illustrated in the book.
