A 16th century miniature map of Estonia and Latvia

A miniature map of the eastern Baltic after Jan Portant. with Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Prussia, the south coast of Finland and the site of what is now St Petersburg. It was published in the 'Epitome', a pocket version of the Ortelius 'Theatrum Orbis Terrarum'. This example is from the first plate used, engraved by Filips Galle, and comes from the only Italian edition with this plate.
