Description

A miniature map of Russia, based on the map of English traveller Anthony Jenkinson (1529-c.1610), who became the first English ambassador to Russia, at the court of Ivan the Terrible. The map was published in 'Il theatro del mondo', an Italian pirate edition of the Ortelius 'Epitome' miniature atlas. First published in 1598, the publication was revived in 1655, forty years after the last edition of the Dutch original.
