Description
This map of Texas still includes the regions that were ceded to the Federal government in lieu of the former republic's debts in 1850, which now form parts of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico (including Santa Fe) and Wyoming.
Also marked are the tribal lands in Oklahoma, including those of the Shawnee, Osages, Cherokees, Creeks and Seminoles, although ignoring the more widespread Comanche.
The map was compiled by Major C. C. F. Radefeld, the chief cartographer for Joseph Meyer's publishing company 'Geographisch Anstalt' and published in Meyer's 'Hand - Atlas'.
