Description

Reland's influential map of Japan, based on a Japanese model and ignoring existing western maps with the result that many of the fictitious places disappear. All sixty-six provinces are named in Roman and Sino-Japanese characters (the first Western map to do so). With an inset map of Nagasaki, and armorials of the Emperor and his shoguns. This version, engraved by Baltasar Ruyter, was first published in Utrecht by Broedelet in 1715.
