Description
A map of the Holy Land divided into the Twelve Tribes, engraved by Guillaume Delahaye, based on the maps and manuscripts of Nicolas Sanson. A second map, 'La Monarchie des Hebreux sous Salomon, ou le Royaume d'Israel distingue en douze Gouvernemens', is on a trompe l'oeil scxroll top left. The decoative roccoco title cartouche features the figures of Moses and Jacob. An early example: Laor only lists a Delamarche edition of 1797-8.
