Description

A detailed map of the theatre of the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-74, covering southern Poland, western Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, and the Balkans, with the Danube from Vienna to the Black Sea. In the treaty that ended the ward, Russia's annexation of Azov and Kerch give the Russians access to the Black Sea for the first time. Another result was the First Partition of Poland, 1772, which was agreed between Russia, Prussia and Austria to prevent war in Europe after Russia's success against the Ottomans.
