Description

Engraved by Jodocus Hondius, this is one of the most decorative maps of the county, with an inset plan of Denbigh, two large armorials and a vignette of Neptune in armour astride a sea horse. This example comes from the only non-English edition of Speed's Theatre, produced for the Continental market. Its lack of success makes it comparatively scarce: it was only after 1918 that the British Museum obtained a complete Latin volume.

Condition:

An early impression with good margins.
