Description

A double-hemisphere map of the world at the end of the 18th century, surrounded by insets of polar and other projections, celestial spheres in the cusps and other astronomical diagrams. George Thompson (1758-1826) was a very successful London publisher, despite most of his output being derivative; he left an estate worth £70,000 although this was much reduced by the legal wrangles over the will that lasted until at least 1834.

Condition:

A good example.
