Description
A broadsheet plan of the Battle of the Nile (or Aboukir Bay), engraved by Francis Joseph Vivares (1750-after 1803) and published less than five months after the event. It shows the British ships sailing down both sides of the French line, raking them with cannonfire. Already the French flagship, L'Orient, is shown on fire, but before it exploded after 10pm.
These separate-issue plans are scarce because, being sold like newspapers, most were destroyed.
