A detailed antique map of Africa with five decorative vignettes including a view of St. Helena, Bedouin tribesmen and Hottentots. On the map much of the interior is still blank, leaving room for the 'Mountains of the Moon', the mythical source of the Nile, and James Rennell's infamous 'Mountains of Kong'.
The map was drawn and engraved by John Rapkin for the 'The Illustrated Atlas, and Modern History of the World, Geographical Political, Commercial & Statistical', edited by Montgomery Martin, which was one of the last decorative atlases to be published.
