A rare map of the west Africa from the Tropic of Cancer south to the near the Tropic of Capricorn, marking the slave forts of the Gold coast, with much fictitious detail in the interior including Lake Zaire. It is decorated with a title cartouche featuring natives, ivory and a lion, and a dedication cartouche.
The map was first published after the death of Jan Jansson in 1664, by his heirs. Fine contemporary colouring.
