A detailed map of Peru and Bolivia, drawn and engraved by John Rapkin, for the 'Illustrated Atlas', one of the last decorative atlases to be produced. This map still shows Bolivia with a Pacific coastline, land lost to Chile in the 1879-83 War of the Pacific. Being landlocked has severely affected Bolivia's economy, and in the present day they are still trying to negotiate access to the sea.
With a decorative border and four attractive vignette scenes of Potosi, Lima, Tarija and the swimming couriers of Peru
