A map of Sweden, with insert maps of the environs of Gothenburg and Fredrikstad. A third inset is an anthropomorphic map of the Baltic Sea as Charon, the mythological ferryman, after Olof Rudbeck.
The map is dedicated to John Carteret (1690-1763, later 2nd Earl Granville) who, as ambassador to Sweden from Hanoverian Britain, helped Sweden at the end of the Great Northern War.
From Aubry de la Motraye's 'Travels through Europe, Asia, and into Part of Africa'.
