An optical view of the old flower market at Covent Garden, looking north.
As a 'vuë-d'optique' (designed to be viewed through a zograscope, a device that used lenses and mirrors to give perspective), the image is reversed: St Paul's Church appears to be situated on the eastern edge of the square whereas in reality it is on the western side.
