A frontispiece representing Italy, with an architectural caprice symbolising the Arts and ships with the names of explorers Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus on their sails.
The plate was engraved by Joseph Montalegre, probably drawn by Johannes Delger and as a frontispiece to a part of the 'Atlas Novus' by Heinrich Scherer, a Jesuit mathematician and geographer.
