A large map of Greece and the Balkan states, with the western part of the Black Sea, with insets of Verma, Shumla, Constantinople and the two Dardanelle forts.
The map was published the year that Russia declared war on the Ottoman Empire and invaded Wallachia and Moldavia. Varma and Shumla were both besieged: Varma fell but Shumla resisted until winter of 1828. forced the Russians to withdraw.
