South America with superb contemporary colouring

A fine map of South America, larger than the usual Hondius maps, with a decorative cartouche with six native figures, parrots and an armadillo. The gaps in knowledge of the interior are filled with vignettes after de Bry. 'Parime Lacus' and 'Mana o el Dorado', a huge lake and the mythical city of gold, both based on Raleigh's account of his expeditions, are shown.
