Leinhart Holle (fl. c. 1480s) was a German printer and publisher active in Ulm, remembered in the history of cartography for issuing one of the most ambitious illustrated geographical books of the fifteenth century. Although not a cartographer in the modern sense, his importance lies in the scale and quality of the early printed maps he helped bring to market.

Holle is best known as the publisher of the 1482 Ulm edition of Claudius Ptolemy’s Geographia, a landmark incunable atlas whose large-format woodcut maps represent a significant moment in the transition from manuscript to print. The Ulm Ptolemy is noted for its bold, clear cutting and for extending Ptolemaic geography to a wider European readership through a carefully produced printed edition.

His work sits within the wider Ulm tradition of late medieval printing, where scholarly texts, image-making, and the practicalities of presswork combined to shape how geographical knowledge circulated at the dawn of the Renaissance.
