Description

A rare map of the Roman Empire, with a title that translates as 'Rome, Mistress of the Nations', with an inset of Latium. It was compiled by the French Jesuit historian Philippe Briet (1601-68) and engraved by Henri Le Roy. This map predates Briet's 'Paralella Geographica Veterus et Novae' of 1648. Also a later copy, engraved by Ruphon, was dated 1687.

Condition:

Slight age toning of paper.
