Description
A fine map of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, engraved by Giorgio Widman after Guillaume Sanson, at a time when it was one of the largest and most populous countries of Europe, under the rule of John III Sobieski. At the time Poland provided one of the strongest armies in the wars against Ottoman incursion into Europe, especially at the Siege of Vienna in 1683.
