A de-luxe edition of this prospect of London in 1845

A lengthy prospect of London and the Thames from Vauxhall Bridge, Belgrave Square and Millbank Prison in the west, to Greenwich Hospital and the Isle of Dogs, with the West India Docks and the City Canal. Points of interest include: Nelson's Column, only erected three years before; the short-lived Hungerford Suspension Bridge (1845-1862); and Buckingham Palace, completed 1837, still with the Marble Arch as the gateway. The key lists 237 landmarks. When it opened in 1842 the London Illustrated News was the world's first illustrated weekly news magazine, taking advantage of cheap wood-engraved prints. It ceased publication in 2003. This prospect was originally published as a supplement for loyal subscribers, printed in two sections on the same sheet, one above the other.
